Sally L. Ring has been Staff Counsel with the Houston Police Officers Union since September, 2008. She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing, with a minor in English. After college, Mrs. Ring attended the University of Houston Law Center, where she participated on several mock trial teams.
Sally worked as an intern and a prosecutor at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office from 1991-2008. Sally prosecuted all levels of cases, from traffic tickets to a death penalty capital murder. She gained extensive trial experience, in both misdemeanor and felony court. She was assigned as Misdemeanor Deputy Chief, Grant Court Chief, Felony Trial Court Chief, Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force Legal Advisor, and a Major Narcotics Chief in the Special Crimes Division.
Sally has lectured and presented to many prosecutor and law enforcement organizations, both locally and nationally, including the Texas District and County Attorneys Association and the National College of District Attorneys. She has been an instructor at the Houston Police Department Academy, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Academy, and the Regional Counterdrug Training Academy. Sally has published articles in the Texas District and County Attorneys periodical, The Texas Prosecutor, and The Practical Prosecutor, a book published by the National College of District Attorneys.
