Mr. Elvis Baker passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017. He is the father of Crisis Counselor Jennifer Y. Baker, assigned to the Central Division. Services were held October 13 with burial in Housotn National Cemetery.

 

BALTAZAR

Mrs. Evelyn Baltazar passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the age of 72. She is the mother of Lieutenant Christopher Baltazar, assigned to the Office of Public Affairs; and the grandmother of Police Officer Steven D. Baltazar, assigned to the Special Victims Division. Services were held October 14 with burial in Glenmora, Louisiana.

 

BASCOM

Mr. Cecil L. Bascom passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the age of 82. He is the father of Lieutenant Christopher C. Bascom, assigned to the Recruiting Division; and uncle of Retired Sergeant Michael F. Craig, whom retired on June 30, 2007. Private services were held.

 

BRAGGS

Mr. Jimmie L. Braggs passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the age of 61. He is the husband of Retired Senior Police Officer Cynthia J. Braggs, whom retired on February 6, 2010, out of the Employee Services Division. Services were held October 19 with burial in Paradise North Cemetery.

 

BRANAM

Mrs. Vera Branam passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the age of 90. She is the grandmother of Senior Police Officer Christian C. Lyall, assigned to Field Operations. Services were held May 16 with burial in Hobbs, New Mexico.

 

BROWN

Retired Senior Police Officer Danny J. Brown passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017, at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Marie Brown. He joined the Houston Police Department on August, 18, 1975, Academy Class #71. During his career, Senior Police Officer Brown was assigned to the Central Division, Emergency Communications Division, the Office of Technology Services, and Training Division, retiring on December 3, 2005. Services were held September 28 with burial in Rosewood Memorial Park in Humble.

 

CARTER

Mrs. Ida Louise Carter passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the age of 70. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Nicole L. Carter, assigned to the North Division. Services were held September 23 with burial in Paradise Cemetery.

 

EVANS

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Evans passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017, at the age of 80. She is preceded in death by her husband, Retired Detective Harold E. Evans, who passed away on August 12, 2008. Services were held September 27 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 

FONTENOT

Mr. Wilrey Fontenot, Sr. passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the age of 86. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Wilrey Fontenot, Jr., assigned to the Downtown Division and of Police Officer Ronald Fontenot, assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held September 28 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 

HOUGHTON

Mr. Joseph Richard Houghton passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at the age of 69. He is the father of Sergeant Richard P. Houghton, assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held September 9 with burial in Clayton, Louisiana.

 

JENKINS

Retired Police Officer Thomas A. Jenkins passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the age of 80. He joined the Houston Police Department on December 28, 1962, Academy Class #27. During his career, he was assigned to the Special Operations Division, and Community Services Division. Officer Jenkins retired on March 16, 1984. He is the father of Retired Sergeant Thomas Allen Jenkins, whom retired on February 4, 2012, out of the Jail Division. Private services were held.

 

LEGINGTON

Mr. Elliott L. Legington passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the age of 71. He is the father-in-law of Senior Police Officer Leroy K. Ferguson, Jr., assigned to Field Operations. Services were held October 14 with burial in Paradise North Cemetery.

 

LOTT

Retired Detective Bobbie G. Lott passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Carmen C. Lott; sons Retired Lieutenant Daryl G. Lott, whom retired on January 25, 2008, out of the Clear Lake Division, and Retired Senior Police Officer Bobby D. Lott, whom retired on March 13, 2015, out of the Narcotics Division; granddaughters Police Officer Jessica L. Lott-Lopata, assigned to the Major Offenders Division, and DWI Technician Donna D. Lott, assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division; grandson Police Officer Travis D. Lott, Assigned to the Airport Division – IAH, his wife, Police Officer Cassandra M. Lott, assigned to the Homeland Security Command. Sergeant Lott was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 7, 1952, Academy Class #8. During his career with the department he was assigned to the Central, Southeast, Narcotics, Homicide, and Burglary and Theft Divisions. Sergeant Lott retired on January 18, 1982.  Services were held October 26 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

 

MARINO

Mrs. Sharron Lynn Marino passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the age of 79. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Cynthia A. Marino, assigned to the Office of Technology Services. Services were held September 9 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

 

MAYBERRY

Retired Police Telecommunicator II Johnnie Mayberry passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017, at the age of 85. She joined the Houston Police Department on August 17, 1978, as a Dispatcher I. Throughout her career with the Department, she was assigned to the Emergency Communications Division, retiring on August 31, 2000.

 

MINH

Mrs. Do Thi Minh passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the age of 87. She is the mother of Police Officer Nghiep C. Bui, assigned to the Emergency Communications Division. Private services were held in Saigon, Vietnam.

 

MOLINA

Mrs. Paula Fernandez Molina passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the age of 91. She is the grandmother of Administrative Assistant Tiana S. Perez, assigned to the Internal Affairs Division.

Services were held October 24.

Retired Police Officer Bonny L. Montero passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017, at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband Retired Sergeant James E. Montero, last assigned to the Homicide Division, retiring on February 17, 1989; daughter Retired Sergeant Michele “Shelly” Scheibe, last assigned to the Homicide Division and husband Retired Lieutenant Gary A. Scheibe, last assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Division; daughter Retired Sergeant Janice Raney Hawk, last assigned to the Vice Division and husband Retired Senior Police Officer James “JD” Hawk, last assigned to the Office of the Chief of Police; granddaughter Police Officer Elizabeth Scheibe Woodall, assigned to the Central Division and husband Police Officer Jonathan Woodall, assigned to the Central Division. Officer Montero joined the Houston Police Department on November 1, 1953. During her career with the Department, she was assigned to the Crime Prevention Division, Juvenile Division, Office of Technology Services, Crime Analysis Division, Personnel Division, Vice Division, Community Services Division, and Homicide Division. Officer Montero retired on March 30, 1989.

 

MONTGOMERY

Mrs. Joyce Evelyn Montgomery passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the age of 81. She is preceded in death by her husband, Retired Police Officer Gary C. Montgomery, whom passed away on October 28, 2015. Mrs. Montgomery is the aunt of Senior Police Officer Mark A. Temple, assigned to the Auto Theft Division. Burial was in Houston National Cemetery on October 5.

 

NEWCOMB

Mr. Dave A. Newcomb passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the age of 82. He is the father of Sergeant Mark D. Newcomb, assigned to the Narcotics Division. Services were held September 28.

 

PARK

Mr. Matthew Carl Park passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at the age of 36. He is the son of Senior Computer Operator Jeffrey T. Park, assigned to the Office of Technology Services. Services were held September 24.

 

RAMOS

Mr. Manuel Javier Ramos passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, at the age of 45. He is the son of Retired Senior Police Officer Adalberto R. Ramos, Sr., whom retired on September 22, 2007, out of the Eastside Division; brother of Sergeant Adalberto R. Ramos, Jr., assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division and brother of Police Officer Juan M. Ramos, assigned to the Central Division.

Services were held October 6 with burial in San Antonio.

 

REYNOLDS

Mrs. Eura Dell Reynolds passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at the age of 90. She was the grandmother of Police Officer Roderick O. Gibson, Jr., assigned to the Tactical Operations Division, Canine Detail. Services were held September 23 with burial in Cemetery Beautiful.

 

RHODES

Mr. Samuel Augustus Rhodes passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the age of 83. He is the father-in-law of Police Officer Eric J. Hines, assigned to the South Central Division. Services were held September 16 with burial in Paradise Cemetery.

 

ROBERTS

Mrs. Reba “Pat” Roberts passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the age of 78. She is the wife of Retired Police Officer David D. Roberts, whom retired on March 31, 2001, out of the North Division. Services were held October 17 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 

RIVERA

Adam Isaiah Rivera passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the age of 15. He is the brother of Police Officer Moises Rivera, assigned to the Auto Dealers Division. Services were held October 23 with burial in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.

 

RODRIGUEZ

Mr. Antonio Moreno Rodriguez passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the age of 79. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Rosalinda R. Ybanez, assigned to the Narcotics Division; and father-in-law of Senior Police Officer Michael J. Ybanez, assigned to the Major Offenders Division.

Services were held September 27 with burial in Rosenberg.

 

ROGERS

Ms. Archa M. Rogers passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017, at the age of 80. She is the grandmother of Senior Office Assistant Latashia D. Washington, assigned to the Employee Services Division.

Services were held October 14.

 

SCHMIDT

Mrs. Mercedes Schmidt passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017, at the age of 93. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Henry “Tim” Schmidt, assigned to the Westside Division. Private services were held in Kansas City, Missouri.

 

SCHULTE

Retired Senior Police Officer Thomas L. Schulte passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife, Paula L. Schulte. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 22, 1973, Academy Class #58. During his career in the department, he was assigned to the Central, Southwest, and Special Operations Divisions. Senior Police Officer Schulte retired on January 23, 2010. Services were held October 24 with burial in Tomball.

 

SEGOVIA

Mr. Onesimo Zuniga Segovia, Sr. passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the age of 89. He is the father-in-law of Sergeant William R. Rios, assigned to the Narcotics Division; and grandfather of Police Officer William R. Rios, II, assigned to the Westside Division. Services were held September 28 with burial in Richmond.

 

SMALLWOOD

Mrs. Gladys Louise Smallwood passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the age of 92. She is the mother of Data Entry Operator Carol J. Ferguson, assigned to the Identification Division. Services were held October 11 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 

TADLOCK

Mrs. Tamara Sue Tadlock passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at the age of 56. She is the wife of Senior Communications Specialist Cynthia Ann Cuellar, assigned to the Office of Public Affairs. Services were held September 14 with burial in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Mr. John L. Woodcock, Sr. passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the age of 86. He is the father of Retired Senior Police Officer John L. Woodcock, Jr., whom retired on October 7, 2006, out of the Westside Division. Private services were held.
