Assist the Officer Foundation will hold its first-ever golf tournament, Badges and Bogeys on Friday, Sept. 13 at Tour 18 Golf Course, 3102 Farm Road 1960 East.

At least 20 foursomes were signed up by the end of August but event coordinator Gabriela Gregory of ATO said, “We expect to have 30 by the end of registration on Sept. 8.”

ATO has teamed up with a co-sponsor in past tournaments but this year chose to be the sole sponsor of the traditional early fall fundraising effort.

Gregory was eager to point out a unique feature of ATO’s golf tourney debut.

“A company known as Amazing Eagle will furnish its Bazooka Launcher at Hole No. 14,” she explained. “It ‘launches’ your golf ball like a bazooka. You may use the bazooka at that hole instead of your golf club.”

But, remember, this is an ATO fundraiser and there is a catch: entrants must make a contribution in exchange for the ‘golf gun.’

“They will get an automatic Eagle score for that hole plus they get to launch their golf balls from the Bazooka style Launchers,” Gregory explained.

As with all ATO fundraisers this added attraction will multiply the fun and increase the funds.

That fun starts at 7 a.m. with the registration breakfast followed by the opening ceremony at; 7:45 a.m. The shotgun starting play will take place at 8 a.m. sharp.

Gregory explained that the day’s events also will include a raffle and a silent auction as part of the dinner segment. Awards will be presented, and the raffle winner announced after the dinner.
