Officer Kawanski Nichols was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama graduated George Washington Carver High School. Officer Nichols was a paid firefighter for two years in Montgomery, Alabama prior to joining the United States Army as a Military Police officer. He served in the Army for seven and half years and promoted to the rank of Sergeant. While in the Army he deployed to Iraq for the support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon the completion of his deployment he was selected to attend the Army Airborne School. After completing Airborne School he then was selected to become an Army Recruiter stationed in Sacramento, Ca. He moved from Sacramento to Houston to become a HPD officer. Kawanski is a member of HPD class 211 and was selected to be the class leader in May 2011. He is currently assigned to Vehicular Crimes Hit and Run unit as an Investigator. He has a bachelor degree in Political Science from the University of Houston. He attends The Church Without Walls and is a member of the Kerygma ministry.
