Ken Nealy

Senior Police Officer Ken Nealy is a native Houstonian.  In February 1996, he graduated from HPD Academy class 165 and was assigned to the Northeast Patrol Station. For the next 10 years he served as a filed trainer, evaluator, and later on the tactical team.  In 2002 he was selected, as currently is a member of the Houston Police Department’s Hostage Negotiator Team.  In 2007 he was assigned to his current assignment, the Robbery Division.   During this tenure, he was selected to work on the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force and the ATF Gun Strike Task Force.

In 2016, he became an elected board member with HPOU serving as a director.  In 2018, he was appointed as the Second Vice President.  In 2018 he was re-elected as Second Vice President.  In 2020 he was appointed as First Vice President.  He actively participated in the contract negotiations that our officers operate under.  He serves on the Labor Relations and Human Resources Committee’s.

He is a member of The Texas Association of Hostage Negotiators and also Robbery Investigators of Texas.  In 2011, he joined and is still a member of the HPD Bike Relay Team, and currently serves as the President of the team.
