HPOU will ask its membership to vote on a constitutional change in October that would establish a third vice president position for sergeants only.
The provision, if approved, would stipulate that the HPOU 3rd vice president would not be in the line of succession for the Union presidency, Board Member Tom Hayes said. “In other words,” Hayes said, “a sergeant could never be president of HPOU.”
Hayes said the proposed change would be on the ballot in the Union’s regular October election cycle. This year the membership will vote for a president, a secretary and board members in odd-numbered board positions.
