HPOU planning another family night to ‘bowl over’ All sorts of free fun at Del Mar Lanes on Mangum Road

Editorial Staff

The family-oriented Houston Police Officers Union is putting on another family night! No movie this time and no outdoor fun out on Oil Ranch. It’s “winter” in Houston, so we’re going indoors!

The HPOU’s first-ever family bowling night is scheduled for Friday night, Feb. 21 at Del Mar Lanes, 3020 Mangum, just outside Loop 610. Everything from the shoes and your bowling ball to all the pizza and soft drinks is FREE!

Event coordinator Rhonda Williams, an HPOU Board member, described this special family evening as the latest “family fun activity.”

Each HPOU member is allowed to bring three family members. There are two two-hour bowling sessions from which to choose: 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. or 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. It’s a Friday night so there is no school the next day.

You must make reservations! Email events@hpou.org. Include your payroll number, the number of tickets needed and your preferred time period. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!

HPOU Bowling Socks

Now for the information about sock-it-to-me time. The specially designed HPOU bowling socks were the idea of Rhonda Williams and are the work of HPOU’s Lisa Marino. Each HPOU member in attendance will receive one free pair.

Williams stressed that this event was the latest in a wide array of HPOU family events recurring over the past several years, highlighted by the Union’s Family Picnic at Oil Ranch in November.

“We’re bringing our families together,” Williams said. “HPOU and Joe (President Joe Gamaldi) are really trying to gear our events around family and love of family. A lot of our events are going to focus on family because we recognize the importance of family, to show love to those we do love.”
