Mr. Clarzell Barner passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Charles C. Barner, assigned to the Burglary & Theft Division. Services were held April 187 with burial in St. Louis, Missouri.

BARNES

Mr. Earl James Barnes passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016.  He is the father of Senior Police Officer Latonia M. Bailey, assigned to the Homicide Division, and Deputy Kerry A. Barnes of the Harris County Sheriff Department and father-in-law of Senior Police Officer C.J. Barnes, assigned to the Employee Services Division. Services were held April 15 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

COLEMAN

Myrtle Coleman, 76, passed away on April 7, 2016.  She is the grandmother of Executive Office Assistant Crystal Davis, assigned to the Public Affairs Division. Services were held April 18 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

DOMAGAS

Mr. David A. Domagas passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016, at the age of 72. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Dennis H. Domagas, assigned to the Midwest Division. Services were held April 1 with burial in the Philipines.

DURRILL

Mr. William Durrill passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016, at the age of 82. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Ginger L. Durrill, assigned to the Midwest Division. Services were held April 12 with burial in Corpus Christi.

EASLEY

Retired Detective Cecil Edward “Red” Easley, Jr. 94, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016.  Officer Easley was a World War II Veteran, where he was captured and a prisoner of War for two years and 10 months.  He joined the department on March 18, 1945 and was the oldest HPD retiree.  He is survived by his daughter, Sandy Pearson. Services were held April 28 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

ELIZONDO

Mrs. Carmen Mata Elizondo passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the age of 87. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Francisco “Frank” Elizondo, assigned to the Major Offenders Division; grandmother of Police Officer Isabel Aguilera, assigned to the Northeast Division and her husband Police Officer Samuel A. Aguilera, assigned to the Gang Division / CRU, and Houston Fire Department Engineer Erik F. Elizondo; and grandmother-in-law of Police Officer Glen M. Elizondo. Services were held May 3 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.

ESTRELLA

Mr. Herminio Estrella, 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.  He is the father of Sergeant Herman Estrella, assigned to the Westside Division. Services were held April 18 with burial in Rosenberg.

FREITAG

Retired Police Officer Ellis J. Freitag passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife Susan A. Freitag. He Joined the Houston Police Department on June 1, 1971, Academy Class No. 50. Police Officer Ellis J. Freitag retired on July 1, 1995, while assigned to the Juvenile Division. Services were held April 4 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.

GOWER

Retired Sergeant William ‘Bill” Gower, 69, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined Police Academy Class No. 37 on January 8, 1968.  He retired on January 20, 2001, while last assigned to the Traffic Accident Division.  He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gower. Services were held April 9.

 GRAYER

Annie B. Grayer passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016.  She is the God Mother of Administrative Associate Charles Missouria, assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division. Services were held April 30 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland.

HAINES

Retired Sergeant John W. Haines, 82, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016.  He joined Police Academy Class No. 20 on December 29, 1958, and retired while last assigned to the Homicide Division on February 16, 1988.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara F. Haines. Services were held April 25 with burial in Conroe.

HYDE

Mr. Jesse Frank Hyde, Sr. passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the age of 89. He is the great-grandfather of Car Attendant Dayadrien M. Youngblood, assigned to the Fleet Unit. Services were held April 30 with burial in Golden Gate Cemetery.

JUSTICE

Sharon Justice passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016.  She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Rachelle D. Justice, assigned to the South Central Division. Services were held April 29.

KIRSCHKE

Retired Sergeant Ernest W. Kirschke, Jr. Passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at the age of 76. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He joined the Houston Police Department on October 6, 1969, Academy Class No. 42. During his career with the Houston Police Department he was assigned to the Central and Northeast Divisions. Sgt. Kirschke retired on March 9, 1991. Services were held May 3 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 KLUGE

Mrs. Mary Lou Kluge passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the age of 85. She is the sister of Retired Sergeant William “Bill” M. Elkin. He retired on January 31, 1992, while last assigned to the Burglary & Theft Division. Services were held April 5 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.

LEE

Retired Police Officer Larry Lee, 77, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016.  He joined Police Academy Class No. 43 on February 2, 1970.  He retired on July 12, 1990, while last assigned to the Northwest Division.  He is survived by his two daughters, Tonya Shinners and Tisha Ohmart.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Police Officer Robert W. Lee, who was killed in the line of duty on January 31, 1971. Services were held April 29.

LUNDBERG

Mrs. Hilda Lundberg Johnston passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, at the age of 72. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Bradley S. Kohlhafer, assigned to the Clear Lake Division. Services were held April 29 in Rockport.

MOSQUEDA

Mr. Domingo Mosqueda, 89, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016.  He is the father of Sergeant Cecil T. Mosqueda, assigned to the Homicide Division. Services were held April 21 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.

 PORTER

Mr. Nelson D. “Big Dee Dee” Porter, Sr. passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the age of 64. He is the father of Police Officer Nelson D. Porter, Jr., assigned to the Southeast Division. Services were held April 30.

RAMSEY

Retired Sergeant Edward L. Ramsey passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Janice Ramsey. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 15, 1971, Academy Class No. 52. Sergeant Ramsey retired on July 3, 2004. He was last assigned to the Crime Analysis Division. He is the uncle of Sergeant Brenda K. McCord, assigned to the Special Victims Division. Services were held April 22 withburial in Bethany Cemetery in Pasadena.

ROSALES

Dora M. Rosales passed away.  She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Daniel Rosales, assigned to the Narcotics Division, grandmother of Police Officer Matthew Rosales, assigned to the Northwest Division, and grandmother of Cadet Joshua Rosales of the Training Academy. Services were held April 15.

SCANNELL

Mrs. Marion Frances “Kopee” Scannell passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the age of 89. She is the mother of Staff Psychologist William E. Metcalfe, Ph.D., assigned to the Houston Police Department Psychological Services Division. Services were held in Robyal Oak, Michigan.

SCHWARZBACH

Mrs. Sandra Ann Schwarzbach passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at the age of 82. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Daniel B. Schwarzbach, who entered Phase Down-B on April 26, 2014. He was las assigned to the Air Support Division. Services were held April 16 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.

TERAN

Senior Police Officer Homero Teran, Jr. passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the age of 47. He is survived by his wife, Susan Teran. He joined the Houston Police Department on August 28, 1995, Academy Class No. 165. During his career with the Houston Police Department, Senior Police Officer Teran was assigned to the Central Division and the Eastside Division. Services were held April 26 with burial Forest Park Lawndale.

TREVINO

Retired Community Service Inspector Jose M. Trevino, Jr. passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the age of 64. He is survived by his wife, Blanca Trevino. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He joined the Houston Police on February 28, 1990. He retired on April 1, 2009. He was last assigned to the Neighborhood Protection Corps. He is the uncle of Senior Office Assistance Eliza R. Telles, assigned to the Mental Health Division. Services were held April 20.

VAUGHN

Hiram Vaughn, Jr. 34, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.  He is the son of Sergeant Hiram J. Vaughn, Sr., assigned to the Internal Affairs Division, and Giselle Vaughn, 911 Supervisor, assigned to the Houston Emergency Center; brother of Police Officer Travis Vaughn of the Humble Police Department, and Detention Officer J’Marcus Vaughn of the Harris County Sheriff’s Department; nephew of Craig Pennamon, assigned to Night Command, and Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Kimberly Malveaux-Wilson and Harris County Detention Officer Vanessa Malveaux-Mitchell and Retired Sr. Police Officer Charles Mitchell. Services were held April 30 with burial in Golden Gate Cemetery.

WALDON

Mr. John Earl Waldon, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. He is the father of Senior Police Officer John E. Waldon, Jr., assigned to the Airport Division / IAH Tactical Unit. Services were held April 2 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 WILLIAMS

Mrs. Annice Williams passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016.  She is the mother-in-law of Office Service Manager Ahmad D. Day, who is assigned to the Records Division. Services were held April 2.
