BRANNON

Mr. Richard Garrett Brannon, 85, passed away on July 25, 2016.  He is the father of Senior Police Officer Roger Mahoney, assigned to the South Central Division. Services were held July 29 with burial in Southpark Cemetery in Pearland.

 

 

CARTER

Retired Sergeant James Clyde Carter passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Norma C. Carter. Sgt. Carter was a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He joined the City of Houston Park Police on October 27, 1969. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 1, 1985, when the Park Police merged with the Houston Police Department. Sgt. Carter retired on January 4, 1998, while assigned to the Park Patrol Division. Services were held August 12 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 

CHILDRESS

Mr. Clarence Edward Childress passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the age of 84. He is the father of Senior Aircraft Mechanic Steve W. Childress, assigned to the Air Support Division. Services were held August 19.

 

COLEY

Retired Police Officer James Coley passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016.  He joined Police Academy Class No. 24 on October 17, 1960.  He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Coley. Services were held in San Marcos with burial in Waco.

 

CRUTCHER

Retired Lieutenant Jerrial L. Crutcher passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016, at the age of 67. He is survived by his wife Susan Crutcher. He joined the Houston Police Department on August 26, 1968, Academy Class No. 39. During his career with the Houston Police Department, Lieutenant Crutcher was assigned to the Central Division and Burglary & Theft Division, retiring on May 8, 2004. Services were held August 17 with burial in Cedar Lawn Haven in West Columbia.

 

CURVEY-OVERSHOWN

Mrs. Margart Curvey-Overshown passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. She is the mother of Office Service Manager Anida M. Overshown-Nunez, assigned to the Fleet Staff Services Command. Services were held August 20 with burial in Augusta.

 

DAVIES

Mrs. Margaret M. Davies passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the age of 72. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Rhonda L. Pemberton, assigned to the Homicide Division. Services were August 13 in El Campo.

 

 DAVIS

Retired Police Officer James L. Davis, 88, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016.  He joined Police Academy Class No. 13 on November 21, 1955.  He served in the Anti-Aircraft Division in the United States Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was last assigned to Central Patrol when he retired on March 3, 1987.  James worked for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department as a patrolman and as a longtime Bailiff in the 75th District Court, retiring in December 2001.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Louise Davis, and sons, Gary Bernard Davis and James Leslie Davis, Jr.  He is survived by daughters, Jacqueline Davis, Venus booker, Donneshea Cook, Bonita Davis and Morika Davis. Services were held August 13 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 

FRANKLIN

Mrs. Margaret Franklin passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016. She is the grandmother of Senior Police Officer Sabrina A. Noble, assigned to the Recruiting Division; she is also the aunt of Retired Senior Police Officer Connie M. Glaze, last assigned to the Southwest Division, retiring on May 8, 2004. Services were held August 27 with burial in Paradise Cemetery.

 

 

 JONES

Mrs. Wilma Faye Jones passed away on July 31, 2016.  She is the grandmother of Police Officer Alisa Lindsey, assigned to the Juvenile Division. Services were held August 6.

 

LEWIS

Mrs. Elnora I. Lewis passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016, at the age of 78. She is the mother of Senior Police Service Officer Jim L. Lawless, assigned to the Airport Division / Hobby. Services were held August 2 with burial in Davenport, Iowa.

 

MITCHELL

Mr. Charles Woodrow Mitchell, 79, passed away on August 5, 2016. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Ann Mitchell (nee Gunn); daughter, Cindy; sons, Marty, Bobby, Robert and Steve. He is the father of Retired Sergeant bobby Joe Mitchell, last assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division and grandfather of Police Officer Kenneth Vern Mitchell, assigned to the South Central Division. Services were held August 9 with burial in Mont Belvieu.

 

NAVARRO

Retired Executive Assistant Chief of Police Wilfred Navarro, Jr., 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He joined Police Academy Class No. 5 on September 25, 1950.  Chief Navarro retired on June 26, 1996.  He is survived by his daughters, Levett Navarro Camarena, Yvonne Bonner, and son, Wilfred Navarro, III.  He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Armandina (Mondie) Navarro who passed away on February 16, 2014. Services were held August 8.

 

 

RICHARD

Retired Sergeant Patsy A. Richard passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016, at the age of 77. She joined the Houston Police Department on May 30, 1966, Academy Class No. 33. During her career with the Houston Police Department, she was assigned to the Juvenile Division and Major Offenders Division. Sgt. Richard retired on March 9, 1988.

 

ROJAS

Mrs. Janya Rojas passed away on August 7, 2016.  She is the mother of Sergeant Ricky Rojas, assigned to the Midwest Patrol Division.

 Services were held August 13 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 

SPENCER

Mr. Dorsey Spencer, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. He is the father of Accountant Associate Dorcas Spencer-Christian, assigned to the Office of Budget and Finance. Services were held August 20 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

 

TREVINO

Mr. Rogelio Trevino, Sr., 67, passed away on July 28, 2016.  He is the father of Senior Police Officer Rogelio Trevino, Jr.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julie Trevino, daughter, Mrs. Kathleen A. Terry and his son-in-law, Senior Police Officer John D. Terry, assigned to the Midwest Division. Services were held August 5.

 

TORRES

Mrs. Esperanza Valladares Torres passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at the age of 79. She is the mother of Administrative Assistant Martina “Marty” Medina, assigned to the Office of the Chief of Police. Services were held August 17 with burial in Weslaco.

 

WILABANKS

Mrs. Carol Wilbanks passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer John D. Wilbanks, assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division. Services were held August 28 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 

WILLIAMS

Andrew Christian Williams passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the age of 22. He is the son of Police Telecommunicator Supervisor Ashley V. Helms, assigned to the Emergency Communications Division; and step-son of Lieutenant Geoffrey “Chad” Helms, assigned to the Inspections Division. Services were held August 20 in Pasadena.
