Tom Kennedy

King

Former Public Information Officer Alfred Thomas “Fred” King III passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015.  He joined the department on December 28, 1994, and served until April 14, 2000.  He is survived by his wife, Jo King; son, Tom King; daughter Sarah Farmer; and stepsons, Jeffrey Parker and Joel Parker.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred T. King II and Audrey Thornton King; his first wife of 39 years, Judith Croom King, and his brother, Tim King. Services were held April 18.

 

LaFaso

Retired Data Entry Operator, Mary Ann LaFaso, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Mary retired from the City of Houston Police Department on January 25, 1997, after serving 21 dedicated years. During her tenure she was assigned to the Property Room, Police Personnel and was last assigned to the Auto Theft Division.  Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony LaFaso.   She is survived by her devoted son, Anthony “Bubba” LaFaso, and daughter, Kathryn Park. Services were held April 16.

 

Lancelin

Sarah Caldwell Lancelin, 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.  She is the mother of Retired Sergeant Yvonne Winston and grandmother of former Identification Officer Shawn Taylor. Services were held April 13 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

 

Mayo

David Mayo passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015. He is the father-in-law of Sergeant Gregory Countie, assigned to Clear Lake. Services were held April 16 with burial in Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.

 

McHenry

Stephanie McHenry passed away.  She is the sister of Probationary Police Officer Ali K. McHenry assigned to the Central Patrol Division. Services were held April 4 with burial in Monroe, Louisiana.

 

Moody

Retired Sergeant Roy P. Moody III passed away Friday, March 20, 2015.  Sergeant Moody joined the Department November 19, 1979 as a member of Academy Class No. 89.  Roy was assigned to Southeast, Emergency Communications, Westside, and the Jail Divisions. He was the Houston 100 Club’s Officer of the Year in 1997. Moody was promoted to the rank of Sergeant September 30, 1989 and retired April 15, 2000.  He is survived by his wife, Pamela B. Moody, his stepsons, Michael R. Court and Sean C. Court, daughter in-laws Gretchen Court and Amy S. Court, and grand-angels, Morgan E. Court, Shane K. Court, Hunter G. Court, and Kaius R. Court.

 

Null

Vernon Lee “Toby” Null, 84, of Alvin passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015.  He is the father of Lieutenant Belinda G. Null, assigned to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Division, and father-in-law of Captain Dana F. Hitzman, assigned to the Special Victims Division.  Services were held April 25.

 

Pardue

Mr. Arnather Pardue, 80, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015.  He is the father of Jail Attendant Nanette Pardue, assigned to the Central Jail Division, and cousin of Senior Police Officer Gregory August, assigned to the Auto Theft Division.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  Mr. Pardue is also survived by his wife of 30 years, Bobbie Pardue and daughters Cheryl Pardue, Gail Allen, Terry Heffner and Andrea Davis. Services were held April 25 with a private burial service.

Payne

Margaret Payne passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015.  She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Ronnie James assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held April 4 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

 

Peterson

Retired Police Officer Charles “Pete” Rodney Peterson, 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He joined Police Academy Class No. 6 on November 16, 1950.  Officer Peterson retired on February 10, 1981, while last assigned to the Robbery Division.  Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lee, on June 7, 2013.  He is survived by his three daughters, Caroline Burleson, Nikki Komar and Jennifer Canavan.

 

Polka

Robert Polka passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015.  He is the father of Senior Police Officer Kenneth S. Polka, assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held May 4 with burial in Lake View Memorial Gardens.

 

Russell

Mark Russell Hroch Sr. passed away Wednesday, April 22, 1015.  He is the father of Police Officer Michael A. Hroch, assigned to the Training Division. Services were held April 27.

 

Scott

Ms. Brenneta A.  Scott, 67, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015.  She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Clifton Winston assigned to the South Gessner Division. She is also the mother of Michael Winston, Eugene Winston and Michelle Brown.  She is the aunt of Jailer Derrick Scott, Deputy Cedric Winston of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and Deputy Constable Andrew Winston with Harris County Precinct 4.  Services were held April 10 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 

Simmons-Sormani

Former Airport Security Officer Alma Simmons-Sormani, passed away April 16, 2015. She is the mother of Retired Assistant Chief Milton C. Simmons, (North Patrol Command); mother-in-law, of Retired Police Officer Mary J. Simmons, (Auto Theft Division); grandmother of Sergeant Steven Simmons, (Eastside Division) and Skilled Labor David A. Simmons, (Airport Division/IAH). Services were held in Terrell on April 27.

 

Tristan

Municipal Court Security Officer Margaret S. Tristan passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015.   She is the mother of Police Officer Omar Tristan, assigned to the Southwest Division, Melisa Tristan, John Tristan; and wife of Eugene Tristan.  She is the aunt of Senior Police Officer Luis Sanchez, (Southeast), Police Officer Joe Sanchez, (Clearlake), and Sergeant Angelica Sanchez, (Jail Division).  Services were held April 20 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

 

Anderson

Mr. Richard L. Anderson, Sr., 78, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015.  He is the father of Lieutenant Richard Anderson, Jr., assigned to the Robbery Division, father-in-law of Senior Police Officer Julie Anderson, assigned to the Special Victims Unit, and father of former Sergeant David Anderson.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He also served as a City Council Member in Magnolia, Texas.  Mr. Anderson is also survived by his wife, Francyne Anderson and children, Karen, and David. Services were held April 18 with burial in Devol, Oklahoma.

Burke

Mrs. Louise Burke passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2015.  She is the surviving spouse of Retired Police Officer A.J. Burke, who retired while last assigned to the SOLO Division and passed away in 2005, and uncle of Senior Police Officer Donald M. Burke (PD-C).  She is also survived by her daughter, Angel Burke-Meyers of League City, Texas, and son, Daniel Allen Burke of Dallas. Services were held April 14 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

Cheatwood

Claude M. Cheatwood, Sr., 73, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015.  He is the brother of Word Processor Cynthia Petty, assigned to the Vice Division. Mr. Cheatwood was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Hobby Airport Supervisor, Malachi L. Petty who passed away on June 7, 2009. Services were held April 20.

DeRegnier

Marla Kaye deRegnier, 62, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015.  She is the mother of Jail Attendant Tammye Starrette, assigned to the Jail Division.  She is also survived by her son, Kevin Barnett. Services were held April 4 with burial in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Dillon

Retired Senior Police Officer Gerald E. Dillon Jr. passed away Monday, April 6, 2015.  Gerald joined the Department June 5, 1978, as a member of Academy Class No. 82 and was assigned to Northeast, Emergency Communication, and Juvenile Divisions.  He was last assigned to the North Division when he retired on November 3, 2007.  Senior Police Officer Dillon was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Dillon; daughters, Meredith Lovelace, and Amanda Dillon and mother, Mary Eppes Dillon. Services were held April 15 with burial in Brookside Cemetery.

Dougherty

Mr. Robert F. Dougherty, 90, Retired Captain United States Park Police and WW2 Veteran passed away April 17, 2015 in Pontotoc, Mississippi.  He is the father of Lieutenant Patrick Dougherty (Jail Division). He is survived by his wife, Linda; son Patrick;  daughter in law Letty Dougherty; grandson Captain Robert Dougherty United States Army; grandson Thomas Dougherty; grand-daughter Elizabeth Dougherty; nephew Andrew McKnight; niece Julia Parra, and Shannon DeMonti. Services were held April 20.

Ellis

Mr. George Q. Ellis, Sr. passed on Friday, April 3, 2015.  Mr. Ellis was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.  He is the father of Senior Policer Officer George Q. Ellis, Jr., assigned to the Inspections Division, and the grandfather of Officer Jerry C. Young assigned to the Homicide Division.  Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lillie B. Ellis in 1989. Services were held April 13 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

Elmore

Audrey L. Elmore passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015.  She is the mother of Retired Car Attendant George Elmore, Jr.  Services were held March 27.

Hall-Williams

Mr. Richard L. Anderson, Sr., 78, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015.  He is the father of Lieutenant Richard Anderson, Jr., assigned to the Robbery Division, father-in-law of Senior Police Officer Julie Anderson, assigned to the Special Victims Unit, and father of former Sergeant David Anderson.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He also served as a City Council Member in Magnolia, Texas.  Mr. Anderson is also survived by his wife, Francyne Anderson and children, Karen, and David. Services were held April 18 with burial in Devol, Oklahoma.

Hickman

Cecile Hickman passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015.  She is the mother-in-law of Senior Office Assistant Rhonda K. Hickman, assigned to the Eastside Division.  Services were held May 6 with burial in Klein Memorial Park.

Hoerner

Retired Sergeant David Hoerner passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  David joined Police Academy Class #49 on April 5, 1971.  During his career, he served at the Southwest Division, Northeast Division, Jail Division and Westside Division and retired while last assigned to the Employee Services Division in 2004.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mrs. Linda Hoerner. Services were held May 4 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

Hollins

Mr. George N. Hollins, Sr., 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.  He is the father of Sergeant George N. Hollins, Jr. PD-A and Sergeant David H. Hollins assigned to the Airport/Hobby Division; and cousin of Sergeant Charles W. Jones, Sr. and Senior Police Officer Charles W. Jones, Jr., both assigned to the North Division. Services were held April 10 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Howell

Retired Data Entry Operator Peggy A. Howell passed away on March 28, 2015.  She joined the Department on December 15, 1970.  During her time with the Department she was assigned to the Records, Central, Vice, Identification, Homicide, Auto Dealers, and Auto Theft Divisions.  Peggy worked for the Houston Police Department for thirty-three years when she retired May 1, 2004 while assigned to the Auto Theft Division.

Jones

Beatrice Jones passed away  Saturday, April 18, 2015.  She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Gwendolyn Jones-Fields, assigned to the Night Command and Security Operations Division.  Services will be held at Mount Calm Missionary Baptist Church, 2711 De Soto Street, Houston, Texas, on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Cemetery Beautiful, 8401 Wheatley Street, Houston, Texas.

Khambhati

Mr. Padmakant Mangaldas Khambhati passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015.  He is the father-in-law of Senior Buyer Anita Khambhati, assigned to the Technology Services Division.  Services were held April 25.
