BERTRAM

Retired Police Officer Ernest G. Bertram passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016.  He joined Police Academy Class No. 20 on December 29, 1958, and retired on March 31, 1988.  Officer Bertram is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Mrs. Irene Bertram.  Services were held March 9 with burial in South Park Cemetery in Pearland.

BRUNSON

Eveline Brunson passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.  She is the mother of Retired Senior Police Officer Rosa L. Garcia, who was last assigned to the Eastside Division and retired in 2013. Services were held February 29 with burial in Center Grove Cemetery in Livingston.

CELESTINE

Welton J. Celestine, 41, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016.  He is the son of Retired Senior Police Officer Jerlean Celestine, who retired on February1, 2014. Services were held March 19 with burial in Houston memorial Gardens in Pearland.

CLAMPITTE

Retired Administrative Supervisor Laura Sue Clampitte passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016.  She is the wife of 31 years of Retired Police Officer J. Weldon Clampitte.  Mrs. Clampitte joined the department in 1975 and retired while last assigned to the Budget and Finance Department in 1998.  She is also survived by daughters, Laurie Schumpert, Lisa Newhouse, Cheryl McLean and Terry Clampitte. Services were held March 2 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

DELANO

Retired Police Officer Richard Delano passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016.  He is survived by his wife, Delia Delano.  He is the father of Police Officer Cynthia Delano, HPD-(PD-A), Sergeant Richard R. Delano, HCSO, and Delma Delano; uncle of Senior Police Officer Ruben Zermeno, HPD, assigned to the Special Victims Division; uncle of Police Officer Elias Martinez Jr, Metro Police; uncle of Retired Senior Police Officer Martha Saathoff, HPD; uncle of Senior Police Officer Donald Saathoff, HPD-(PD-C); grandfather of Delia Colunga, HCSO and brother-in-law of Roy Martinez (dec.) HPD and Pct. 6. Services were held March 11 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

ELLER

Mrs. Gladys Mae Eller passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the age of 86. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Daniel D. Eller, assigned to the Narcotics Division, and grandmother of Police Officer Luke K. Kirbow, assigned to the Northeast Division.  Services were held February 24 with burial in Erie, Pennsylvania.

ENGLISH

Retired Police Officer Roland Elmore English passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Barbara English. Police Officer English joined the Houston Police Department on November 21, 1955, Academy Class No. 13. He retired on November 16, 1983. Services were held March 21 with burial in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.

 FENDIA

Mr. Les J. Fendia passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016.  He is the father of Sergeant Edward T. Fendia, assigned to the Jail Division.  Services were held April 2.

 FRANK

Edna Frank passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.  She is the mother of Senior Police Officer David Frank, assigned to the Narcotics Division. Services were held March 29 with burial in Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.

 FREDERICKSON

Mr. Rodney L Frederickson, 65, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. He is the father of Staff Analyst Carla Manuel, assigned to the Vice Division. Services were held March 19 in Stanley, Wisconsin.

FRITZ

Reverend John D. Fritz, 86, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016.  He is the father of Senior Police Officer John M. Fritz (PD-C), and grandfather of Police Officer Kimberley Hendrick, assigned to the Westside Command.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eunice Fritz R.N., and eight children.  Reverend Fritz served as a parish pastor, seminary professor and missionary. Services were held March 19.

GANN

Donna Gann passed away on February 28, 2016.  She is the wife of Retired Police Officer Michael Gann and mother of Bryan Gann. Services were held March 3 in Conroe.

GARCIA

Retired Senior Police Officer Raymond V. Garcia passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria A. Garcia. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on June 1, 1959, Academy Class No. 21. During his career with the Houston Police Department, he was assigned to the Central Division and Traffic Enforcement Division / SOLO Motorcycle Detail. Senior Police Officer Raymond V. Garcia retired on January 25, 2002, while assigned to the Special Operations Division.

Services were held April 2 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

 GAYTAN

Mr. Abraham C. Gaytan passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the age of 74. He is the father-in-law of Senior Police Officer Alejandro Maciel, assigned to the Inspections Division.

Services were held March 25 with burial in San Jacinto Memorial Park.

 GRIMALDO

Mrs. Sofia Grimaldo passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016, at the age of 100. She is the grandmother of Sergeant Edward D. Romo, assigned to the Burglary & Theft Division, Northwest Squad.  Burial was in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

Mr. Willard Edison Groves, 73, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016. He is the brother of Sergeant Frederick Groves, assigned to the South Gessner Division; uncle of Lieutenant Ronald P. Sweet, assigned to the Homicide Division and Retired Senior Police Officer Edith H. Renfro; and cousin of Sergeant Norris W. Groves, assigned to the Jail Division, Senior Police Officer Gwendolyn Gilford, assigned to the Southeast Division, Senior Police Officer Vincent A. Taylor,  assigned to the Night Command, Senior Police Officer Clifford M. Jackson, assigned to the South Gessner Division, Senior Police Officer Don E. Henry, assigned to the South Central Division, Retired Senior Police Officer Reginald M. Harris, and Retired Senior Police Officer Ronald F. Davis. Services were held March 12 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland.

HOGAN

Mr. Elois Hogan, Sr., 78, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016.  He is the father of Senior Police Officer Melba L. Hogan, assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division and former Jail Attendants, Fort Bend County Deputy Celestine Hogan Belasdour and Harris County Sheriff’s Office Immigration Officer Earnestine Hogan. Services were held February 27 with burial in Paradise North Cemetery.

JANKOWIAK

Helen Frances Jankowiak-Bush, 93, of Willis, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016.  She is the sister of Retired Police Officer Zigmond E. “Zeke” Kominczak, who retired in 1994, while last assigned to the Special Operations Division.  She is also the Aunt and Godmother of Senior Police Officer Dara L. Zoretic, assigned to the North Division, who is married to Senior Police Officer David P. Zoretic, assigned to the Midwest Division. Services were held March 4 with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

JOHNSON

Mrs. Brenda M. Johnson, 62, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016. She is the mother of Police Officer Ryan L. Johnson, assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division. Services were held February 27 with burial in New Orleans.

KRAUSE

Ruby Adele Schulze Krause 88, of Serbin, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.  She is the mother of Retired Sergeant Harold Krause, who retired while last assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division in 1996. Services were held March 14 with burial in Serbin.

KUBOSH

Mr. Ernest Lewis Kubosh, 101, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy Seabees.  Mr. Kubosh is one of the oldest living survivors of the battle of Iwo Jima during World War II, earning the Purple Heart for his wounds.  He is the father-in-law of Senior Police Officer William M. “Bo” Hargrove, assigned to the Employee Services Division.  Services were held March 19 with burial in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.

LAREDO

Felicia Marie Laredo, 22, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016.  She is the daughter of former Wrecker Driver, Hector J. Ramirez and step daughter of Car Attendant Stephanie Garcia assigned to the Fleet Unit. Services were held March 19 with burial in Alvin.

 MENARD

Retired Building Attendant Bill H. Menard passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the age of 83. He joined the Houston Police Department family on October 24, 1964. He retired on January 14, 1995, while assigned to Facilities Operations. Services were held February 27 with burial in Paradise Cemetery.

MIRELES

Mr. Ernest Mireles passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the age of 86. He is the father of Retired Senior Police Officer Richard J. Mireles, last assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division, retiring on August 4, 2012, Senior Police Officer Robert Mireles, assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Division, Senior Police Officer Sebastian David Mireles, assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division, Senior Police Officer Ernie M. Mireles, assigned to the Airport Division / IAH, Senior Police Officer Jose S. Mireles, assigned to the Special Operations Division, and grandfather of Police Officer Robert F. Garcia, assigned to the Crime Analysis & Command Center Division. Services were held

ORTIZ

Mr. Herman P. Ortiz, Sr., 68, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Michael V. Ortiz, assigned to the Southeast Division. He is the uncle of Police Officer Krystal A. Munoz, assigned to the Jail Division. Mr. Ortiz is also the brother-in-law of Senior Police Officer Ramond J. De La Cruz, assigned to the Eastside Division and Retired Sergeant Arthur A. Valdez, who retired on January 6, 1992. Services were held February 25.

PERRY

Mrs. Cynthia D. Perry passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016, at the age of 61. She is the sister of Senior Police Officer Vincent E. Roger, assigned to the North Division. Burial was in Paradise North Cemetery.

ROBERTSON

Mr. John G. Robertson passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the age of 54. He is the brother of Senior Police Telecommunicator Regina R. Robertson, assigned to the Emergency Communications Division. Services were held March 28 with burial in Golden Gate Cemetery.

ROGERS

Mr. Reginald Rogers, 60, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.  He is the brother-in-law of Record Technician Katherine P. Williams, assigned to the Employee Services Division.

Services were held March 19.

SEDITA

Mary Jo Sedita, 73, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016.  She is the mother of Sergeant Carl Joseph Sedita, assigned to the South Central Division, and aunt of Police Officer Jonathan Tallant, assigned to the North Division, and Police Officer Justin Tallant, assigned to the Westside Division.  Services were held March 23 with burial in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.

 SMITH

Mrs. Iona Nelle Smith, 93, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016. She is the mother of Retired Sergeant Keith D. Smith, who was last assigned to North Division, retiring on October 16, 2010. Services were held March 10 with burial in Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.

STONE

Retired Police Officer Ruby Mae Stone passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the age of 82. She joined the Houston Police Department on October 1, 1956, Academy Class No. 15. Police Officer Ruby Mae Stone was assigned to the Juvenile Division and to the Jail Division until she retired on September 29, 1978. She was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Police Officer Clarence V. Stone, who passed away on March 15, 1998. She is survived by her daughter Glenda Cummins and son James Stone. Services were held March 26 with burial in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

 STRAIT

Retired Senior Police Officer Jerry M. Strait passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife Ginger Strait. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 16, 1970, Academy Class No. 47. During his career he was assigned to the Northeast Division and the Air Support Division. Senior Police Officer Strait retired on May 8, 2004. Services were held March 25 with burial in Resthaven Cemetery in Jacksonville.

STUCKEY

Lorene “Skeets” Matthews Stuckey, 91, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016.  She is the mother of Lorena Mae Johnson, who is the surviving spouse of Police Chief Bradley K. Johnson, who passed away on June 7, 2015. Services were held February 24 with burial in Leggett.

SULLINS

Mrs. Mary Sullins passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Police Officer Joe H. Sullins, who passed away on January 7, 2008. Services were held March 21 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

THOMAS

Tabonna Thomas, 36, passed away on February 20, 2016.  She is the daughter of Retired Police Officer Billy Williams.

Services were held February 27 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland.

THOMPSON

Christell Thompson, 84, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016.  She is the mother of Retired Senior Police Officer Cynthia Braggs, who was last assigned to the Employee Services Division; and mother-in-law of Retired Senior Police Officer Edwin Davis, who last served as the Department’s Chaplain. Services were held February 26 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

WHITE

Retired Sergeant Howard White passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  Sergeant White joined Police Academy Class No. 20 on December 29, 1958.  He served in the Burglary and Theft Division and retired on March 30, 1990, while last assigned to the Robbery Division.  He is survived by his wife, June White and daughter, Susan. Services were held March 19 with burial in Dickinson.

WILSON

Retired Senior Police Officer Tonya Reyna Wilson passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the age of 50. She joined the Houston Police Department on March 4, 1985, Academy Class No. 127. Senior Police Officer Tonya R. Wilson retired on March 3, 2012, while assigned to the Robbery Division. She was re-hired by the Houston Police Department as a Senior Clerk on September 21, 2015, assigned to the Robbery Division. Services were held March 17.

WRIGHT

Retired Senior Police Officer Jerry L. Wright passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife Margaret Wright. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Senior Police Officer Wright joined the ranks of the Houston Police Department on January 24, 1972, Academy Class No. 53. He resigned his position with the Houston Police Department on October 29, 1982, to join the Crocket Police Department, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Houston County District Attorneys Office. Senior Police Officer Wright came back to be a part of the Houston Police Department family on October 19, 1992, Class No. L292. He retired on July 31, 2004, while assigned to the Homicide Division. Services were held March 15 in Kennard, Texas with burial in San Augustine County.

YOUNG

Addie Young, 99, passed away on February 9, 2016.  She is the surviving spouse of Police Officer A. V. Young (dec.).

Services were held February 26 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.
