New Meritorious Community Service Award winners to be selected by HPOU committee

Tom Kennedy

The HPOU has created a new award to recognized members who assist other members in areas outside of law enforcement.

The Meritorious Community Service Award is designed to recognize members of the Houston Police Officers Union who have gone above and beyond in serving their community outside the scope of their law enforcement duties.

The award is for those who have made major contributions, either long-term or a single significant noteworthy achievement resulting in a positive impact for the members of the Houston Police Officers Union and the community at large.

Those wishing to nominate a fellow officer can obtain a nomination form at the HPOU front desk. Board of Director Rhonda Williams was chosen to chair the committee responsible for selecting individuals for this award.

The completed form will be returned to the HPOU directed to the committee for processing.
