BRIONES

Retired Administrative Assistant Maria M. Briones passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020, at the age of 48. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Michael Briones. Mrs. Briones joined the Houston Police Department June 15, 1998. During her career with the department, she was assigned to the Records Division and the Office of the Chief of Police until her retirement on December 22, 2015. Services were held May 23 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.


CAPTAIN

Mrs. Ada H. Captain passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at the age of 92. She is the mother of Retired Sergeant Gail R. Captain, who retired on July 1, 2017. Services were held May 30 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.


CARTER

Mrs. Sharon L. Carter passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020, at the age of 73. She is the wife of Retired Police Officer Gerald L. Carter, who retired on September 2, 1991. Services were held May 30.


CLAYTON

Retired Senior Police Officer Harold D. Clayton Jr. passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020, at the age of 66. He joined the Houston Police Department on May 3, 1982, Academy Class No. 105. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Northeast and Airport – IAH Divisions. Officer Clayton retired on May 16, 2009. Graveside services were to be scheduled for a later date.


CRAWFORD

Mr. Reginald M. Crawford passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at the age of 79. He is the father of Retired Lieutenant Joslyn M. Johnson, who retired on December 29, 2018; and father-in-law of Police Officer Rodney J. Johnson, who died in the Line of Duty on September 22, 2006. Services were held May 22.


HAGAN

Retired Police Officer David J. Hagan passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at the age of 75. Officer Hagan joined the Houston Police Department on June 2, 1969, Academy Class No. 41. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Personnel Division, Vice Division, Southeast Division and the Northwest Division until his retirement on January 17, 1990. Services were held May 9 with burial in Willis Cemetery in Willis.


HOLLINS

Mrs. Mary Lee Hollins passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at the age of 87. She is the mother of Sergeant David H. Hollins, assigned to the Airport Division – Hobby, and retired Sergeant George N. Hollins, Jr., who retired on March 5, 2017.  She is also the cousin of retired Senior Police Officer Charles W. Jones, Jr., who retired on August 25, 2018. Services were held May 16 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.


ILAG

Mr. Silvino A. Ilag passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at the age of 90. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Manuelito E. Ilag, assigned to the Westside Division. Services were held May 9.


JONES

Mrs. Margaret D. Jones passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020, at the age of 61. She is the mother of Police Officer Derek T. Jones, assigned to the Auto Theft Division. Private Funeral Services will be held at a later date.


KAMYK

Mrs. Joan H. Kamyk passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020, at the age of 91. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer David Kamyk, assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Division. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.


LaDORE

Ms. Pamela J. LaDore passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020, at the age of 72. She is the sister of retired Police Telecommunicator Supervisor Mary LaDore, who retired on August 19, 2019, last assigned to the Emergency Communications Division. A private Graveside Service will be held.


LEE

Retired Captain Richard W. Lee passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020, at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife Sandra “Sandy” Lee. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on May 21, 1956, Academy Class No. 14. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central Division, Traffic and Accident Division, Fleet Unit, Southeast Division, Inspections Division, and Personnel Division. Captain Lee retired on March 23, 1990 in command of the Jail Division. Memorial Services were set for June 27.


MONROE

Mr. Lawrence H. Monroe passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at the age of 73. He is the father of Sergeant Mary O. Henson, assigned to the Patrol Region 1 Command. Services were held May 18 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.


PENA

Mr. Johnny Gustavo Pena passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at the age of 80. He is the father of Police Officer David L. Pena, assigned to the Kingwood Division. A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.


PORTER

Mr. Ernest Porter passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at the age of 81. He is the father of Sergeant Reginald K. Porter, assigned to the South Central Division. Services were held May 14 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.


RAVEN

Mrs. Georgia Ann Raven passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, at the age of 74. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Kevin L. Raven, assigned to the Narcotics Division. Services were scheduled for June 18 in Brenham.


RUSSELL

Mr. Don Richard Russell passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020, at the age of 86. He is the father of Sergeant David C. Russell, assigned to the Auto Theft Division. Services were held May 21 with burial in Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont.


TYLER

Mrs. Pamela Darlene Tyler passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at the age of 64. She is the mother-in-law of Senior Police Officer Arthur W. Phillips, assigned to the Auto Theft Division.A memorial service will be held at a later date.


WELSHONS

Retired Sergeant Joel A. Welshons passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Deborah Ann Welshons. Sergeant Welshons joined the Houston Police Department on the June 28, 1982, Academy Class No. 106. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Central Division, Jail Division, South Central Division, Emergency Communications Division and the Internal Affairs Division until his retirement on May 26, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.


ZAPADA

Miss Lissette Zapata passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at the age of 32. She is the sister of Sergeant Jose L. Zapata, Jr., assigned to the North Belt Division. A private Funeral Service will be held at a later date.
