BLANCHARD

Retired Sergeant Elton L. Blanchard, Jr. passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020, at the age of 62. His wife, Katy Ellen Blanchard survives him. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 28, 1980, Academy Class No. 90. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Special Operations, Jail, Burglary and Theft, and the Major Offenders Divisions. Sergeant Blanchard retired on July 28, 2001. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.


BROWN

Mr. Henry Brown passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020, at the age of 97. He is the father of Sergeant Curtis W. Hampton, assigned to the Downtown Division. Services were held April 25 with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.


CRAWFORD

Mrs. Bobbie Ruth Crawford passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at the age of 91. She is the grandmother of Sergeant Spencer A. Duvall, assigned to the Westside Division. Services were held April 18 in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.


FOEHNER

Retired Sergeant Nelson P. Foehner passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the age of 86. His wife, Sue E. Foehner, survives him. He is the father of Retired Sergeant Melissa A. Ruland, who retired on February 26, 2016; and father-in-law of Retired Sergeant Norman Tommy Ruland, who retired on January 27, 2017. He joined the Houston Police Department on December 28, 1962, Academy Class No. 27. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Central Division, Criminal Intelligence Division, Office of the Chief of Police, and the Narcotics Division. Sergeant Foehner retired on January 18, 1991. Services were held April 23 in Klein Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at a later date.


GILHOOLY

Retired Senior Police Officer Clifford J. Gilhooly passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anita G. Lauman-Gilhooly. Officer Gilhooly began his law enforcement career on February 16, 1983 with the City of Houston Airport Police Department and was also a Veteran of the United States Army. On November 20, 1992, the Airport Police Department merged with the Houston Police Department where Officer Gilhooly was assigned to the Airport Division – IAH until his retirement on November 20, 2009.


GRACE

Mr. Marion G. Grace passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at the age of 81. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Jacob Maynor, assigned to the Downtown Division.


GUIDRY

Retired Senior Police Officer Joseph N. Guidry passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora E. Guidry. Officer Guidry joined the Houston Police Department on March 31, 1975, Academy Class No. 69. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Special Operations Division until his retirement on May 8, 2004. Services will be held at a later date.


HERRERA

Mrs. Adriana Angelica Herrera passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020, at the age of 51. She is the sister of Senior Police Officer Adalberto Estrada, assigned to the Central Division. Services were held April 16.


JENSEN

Retired Senior Police Officer David Jensen passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at the age of 66. He joined the Houston Police Department on April 15, 1985, Academy Class No. 128. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the North, Central and Training Divisions. Senior Police Officer Jensen retired on May 20, 2017. Services will be held at a later date.


JOHNSON

Mrs. Mae Johnson passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at the age of 72. She is the mother of Sergeant Horace R. Johnson, assigned to the Southeast Division. Services were held April 30 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.


KLAWITER

Retired Sergeant Thomas E. Klawiter Jr. passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020, at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nelda J. Klawiter. Sergeant Klawiter joined the Houston Police Department on January 8, 1968, Academy Class No. 37. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Emergency Communications Division, Juvenile Division, Homicide Division, Auto Theft Division, Westside Division and the Burglary and Theft Division until his retirement on April 24, 2004.


McMILLAN

Retired Detective Frank N. McMillan passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020, at the age of 87. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 17, 1962, Academy Class No. 26. During his career with the department he was assigned to the Patrol Division, Robbery Division, Career Offenders Detail, and the Homicide Division. Detective McMillan retired on March 17, 1983.Services were held March 28 with plans for a formal memorial service to be held at a later date.


MIRELES

Retired Senior Police Officer Ernest Mireles passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020, at the age of 60. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Christine D. Mireles. Officer Mireles joined the Houston Police Department on June 28, 1982, Academy Class No. 106. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Jail Division and the Central Patrol Division until his retirement on December 5, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.


MOCK

Mr. Albert Joseph Mock passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at the age of 98.  He is the grandfather of Senior Police Officer Shane J. Towler, assigned to the Special Operations Division – Mounted Patrol. Services were held April 20 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.


MOSLEY

Retired Sergeant Charles B. Mosley passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at the age of 61. He is survived by his wife, Alida K. Mosley. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 3, 1985, Academy Class No. 31. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the South Central, Traffic and Accident, Northeast, Jail, and Central Divisions. Sergeant Mosley retired on March 25, 2016.


OVIEDO

Mr. Gonzalo Oviedo passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020, at the age of 92. He is the father of Sergeant Louis Oviedo, assigned to the Risk Management Division. Services were held April 8 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.


RUFFIN

Mr. Larry C. Ruffin passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020, at the age of 85. He is the father of Retired Office Service Manager Deborah McCoy, who was last assigned to the Employee Services Division until her retirement on May 30, 2015. He is also the grandfather of Data Entry Operator Latonya Lewis, assigned to the Fleet Unit Division. Services were held in Houston National Cemetery.


SAENZ

Mrs. Josefina N. Saenz passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the age of 91.  She is the mother of Awards Coordinator Araceli (Shelly) Molina, assigned to the Office of Public Affairs; grandmother of Police Officer Victor Molina, assigned to Westside Division; and grandmother-in-law of Sergeant Victor Garcia, assigned to Eastside Division. Services were held April 8 in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.


VASQUEZ

Car Attendant Supervisor Homero Vasquez passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at the age of 47. He is survived by his wife, Josefina “Josie” M. Vasquez. He joined the Houston Police Department on August 5, 1996. Throughout his career with the department, Car Attendant Supervisor Homero Vasquez was assigned to the Fleet Unit. Services were held in Hollywood Cemetery.


WALSH

Mrs. Margaret Walsh passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at the age of 96. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer John P. Walsh, assigned to the Emergency Communications Division. Services will be held in Michigan at a later date.


WOOTTEN

Retired Police Officer Jimmie Florence Wootten passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at the age of 93. She is the surviving spouse of Police Officer Robert J. Schultea, who was killed in the Line of Duty on August 25, 1956. She joined the Houston Police Department on October 1, 1956, Academy Class No. 15. Throughout her career with the department, she was assigned to the Juvenile Division. Police Officer Wootten retired on July 16, 1979.
