Mr. Willie Adams, Sr. passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018, at the age of 81. He is the father of Jail Attendant Gwendolyn A. McGowan assigned to the Jail Division. Services were held January 13 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Rafaela M. Barrientos passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018, at the age of 80. She is the grandmother of Police Officer Gilberto B. Rodriguez, assigned to the Downtown Division. Services were held January 19 with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

 

BELL

Retired Police Officer Wilfred W. Bell passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife Beverly Ann Bell. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He joined the Houston Police Department on May 1, 1967, Academy Class No. 35. During his career with the department, Police Officer Bell was assigned to the Jail, South Central, and Central Divisions, retiring on May 3, 1997. Services were held January 26 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

 

BRADSHAW

Retired Police Officer and Forensic Photographer Supervisor Sherwood “Tom” Bradshaw passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, at the age of 80. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on June 30, 1969, Academy Class No. BC1. During his career as a Police Officer, he was assigned to the Identification Division and the Crime Lab. Police Officer Bradshaw retired on January 22, 1994. He came back to work for the department on November 2, 1994 as a Police Service Officer and Forensic Photographer, assigned to the Crime Lab and Identification Division. He retired as a Forensic Photographer Supervisor on January 8, 2005.

Services were held January 26y with burial in Crockett.

 

CHANCEY

Mrs. Lois Inez Chancey passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the age of 91. She is the widow of Retired Police Officer W. B. Chancey, who passed away on August 12, 1995. Services were held January 3 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 

DAUMANN

Mr. Albert Henry Daumann passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the age of 84. He is the grandfather of Police Officer Jonathan D. Woodall, assigned to the Central Division and grandfather-in-law to Police Officer Elizabeth L. Scheibe, assigned to the Central Division. Services were held January 14 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

Mrs. Florence R. Eckerman passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the age of 86. She is the mother-in-law of Senior Police Officer Kenneth E. Kalka, assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division. Services were held January 8 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

Ms. Joanne Flores passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the age of 46. She is the sister of Senior Police Officer Danny Flores, assigned to the Central Division and Police Officer Joe A. Flores, assigned to the Eastside Division. Services were held December 23.

 

GIBSON

Senior Police Telecommunicator Roland D. Gibson passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at the age of 51. He is the brother of Jail Attendant Ingnasiea E. Gibson, assigned to the Jail Division. Senior Police Telecommunicator Gibson joined the Houston Police Department on January 23, 1992. He worked his whole career at the Emergency Communications Division. Services were held February 2 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

 

GONZALEZ

Mr. Manuel P. Gonzalez passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the age of 97. He is the father of Retired Lieutenant Gilbert G. Gonzalez, who retired on November 6, 2015, out of the Northeast Division. Services were held January 15 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 

HAMAKER

Retired Police Officer Bobby D. Hamaker passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017, at the age of 84. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 17, 1962, Academy Class #26. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Traffic and Accident, Community Services, Personnel, and Jail Divisions. Police Officer Hamaker retired on May 31, 1990. Services were held December 29 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 

HAMILTON

Mr. Howard “Cool” Hamilton, Jr. passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018, at the age of 66. He is the brother of Office Supervisor Ivory J. Hamilton, assigned to the Inspections Division. Services were held January 13 with burial in Trinity Memorial Cemetery in Trinity.

 

HYLTON

Mr. Sylvan Gordon Hylton passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018, at the age of 91. He is the father of Administrative Associate Marrah E. Hylton, assigned to the Records Division. Services were held January 27.

 

JOHNSON

Mrs. Earline Johnson passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the age of 97. She is the mother of Retired Senior Police Officer Jacquelyn I. Prince, last assigned to the Employee Services Division, retiring on January 30, 2010. Services were held January 27.

 

KENDRICK

Retired Captain Delvin H. Kendrick passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife Carolyn M. Kendrick. He joined the Houston Police Department on July 17, 1961 as a Clerk Typist I, assigned to the Property Room. On November 12, 1963, he became a Cadet, as a member of Academy Class No. 29. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Traffic and Accident, Robbery, Burglary and Theft, Southeast, Employment Services, Civilian Employment, Emergency Communications, Clear Lake, and Eastside Divisions, and the West Patrol Command. Captain Kendrick retired on December 18, 2004, out of the Auto Theft Division. Services were held December 26 with burial in Forest Park East Cemetery.

 

KERSTEN

Mrs. Sarale Bolton Kersten passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the age of 81. She is the widow of Retired Lieutenant Henry W. Kersten, who passed away on January 6, 2013. Services were held December 28 with burial in Ponta, Texas.

 

LEDET

Mrs. Alveretta Frilot Ledet passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the age of 90. She is the mother of Retired Sergeant Carey M. Ledet, who retired on March 20, 2009, out of the Crime Analysis Division.

A visitation will be held at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 4000 Sumpter Street, Houston, Texas 77020 (713) 672-0026, on Friday, January 26, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Services were held January 27 with burial in Frilot Cove, Louisians.

 

McKEEHAN

Retired Sergeant Paul K. McKeehan passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Linda A. McKeehan. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He joined the Houston Police Department on May 25, 1964, Academy Class No. 30. During his career with the department he was assigned to the Northeast, Training, and North Divisions, retiring on January 8, 1988. Services were held January 5 in Brookside Memorial Park.

 

MAWHOOD

Mr. Aristide Roscoe Mawhood passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the age of 84. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Anton M. Mawhood, assigned to the Midwest Division. Private services were held.

Mr. Alfredo Mendoza passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018. He is the father of Customer Service Cashier Lorena Canales, assigned to the Auto Theft Division / Auto Dealers Detail. Services were held December 29 in La Marque.

 

MOORE

Mrs. Nansi Elizabeth Moore passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the age of 72. She is the mother of Sergeant Michael G. Martin, assigned to the Homicide Division. Services were held December 29.

 

MOUTON

Mrs. Evelyn Mouton passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the age of 94. She is the mother of Retired Senior Police Officer Lawrence G. Mouton, who retired on May 15, 2014, out of the Special Operations Division.

Services were held January 6 with burial in Paradise North Cemetery.

 

NEWELL

Mr. James B. Newell, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at the age of 58. He is the father of Police Officer James B. Newell, Jr., assigned to the Vice Division and father-in-law of Police Officer Francesca M. Bias, assigned to the Downtown Division. Services were held January 6 in Jackson, Mississippi.

 

NEWMAN

Mr. Gregory Dwayne Newman passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the age of 60. He is the brother of Administrative Associate Theresa A. Taylor, assigned to the Records Division. Services were held in Porter.

 

SAATHOFF

Retired Senior Police Officer Donald E. Saathoff passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the age of 60. He is survived by his wife, retired Senior Police Officer Martha M. Saathoff who retired January 2015 and was last assigned with the Internal Affairs Division. He joined the Houston Police Department on August 22, 1983, Academy Class No. 115 and was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. During his career with the department, Officer Saathoff was assigned to the Central Division, Traffic and Accident Division and Training Division until his retirement on January 17, 2015. Services were held December 28 with burial in Goliad County.

 

SACHS

Ms. Dena Lucille Sachs passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018, at the age of 77. She is the mother of Police Officer Adam M. Sachs, assigned to the Identification Division. Services were held in Beth Israel Memorial Garden on January 23.

Mrs. Earlene Virginia Scott passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the age of 103. She is the grandmother of retired Lieutenant Chandra K. Johnson who retired in January 2016 and was last assigned to the Homicide Division.

Services were held January 13 with burial in Brookside Cemetery.

Mr. James H. Simpo passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, at the age of 75. He is the father of Police Officer Kendrick A. Simpo, assigned to the Patrol Region 1 Command. Services were held January 27 with burial in Jacksonville, Florida.

 

SISCOE

Mr. Orville Lynn Siscoe passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018, at the age of 85. He is the father of retired Lieutenant James S. Siscoe who retired in February 2013 and was last assigned to the Clear Lake Division.

Services were held January 13 in Houston National Cemetery.

Mr. Herman Smith Jr. passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the age of 67. He is the brother of retired Payroll Clerk Mary E. Williams, formerly known as Mary E. Broussard who retired on August 15, 2015 and was last assigned to the Southeast Division. Services were held January 5 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

Mrs. Maria Luisa Trevino passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018, at the age of 95. She is the mother of Retired Assistant Chief John P. Trevino, who retired on April 24, 2015; mother-in-law of Retired Lieutenant Elma A. Trevino, who retired on August 25, 2017; mother of former Houston Police Department Police Officer and former Harris County Precinct 6 Constable Victoriano Trevino, Jr.; mother-in-law of Retired Senior Police Officer and current Precinct 6 Constable Silvia Trevino, who retired on January 1, 2005; mother of City of Houston Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Municipal Courts Nelly Trevino Santos, J.D.; mother-in-law of Retired Jail Attendant Leonardo Hurtado, who retired on October 14, 2002; grandmother of Police Officer Adrian A. Lopez, assigned to the Eastside Division, and California Highway Patrol Officer Javier Lopez; grandmother-in-law of Sergeant David Rodriguez, assigned to the Recruiting Division, and Senior Police Officer Arnoldo Chapa, assigned to the Downtown Division. Services were held January 10 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.

 

VAN NESS

Retired Police Officer Dale Allen Van Ness Sr. passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife Debby Ann Van Ness. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on August 23, 1971, Academy Class No. 51. During his career with the department, Police Officer Van Ness was assigned to the Northwest Division and Burglary and Theft Division, retiring on December 18, 1993.

Services were held January 16 with burial in Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery.

 

VELA

Mrs. Therese Rose Vela passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the age of 55. She is the wife of Senior Police Officer Luis G. Vela, assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division. Services were held January 8 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.
