ALVAREZ

Mr. Alberto A. Alvarez passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at the age of 39. He is the brother of Senior Police Officer Stephen Martinez, assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division; and uncle of Cadet Dominick Martinez, assigned to the Training Division. Services were held December 1.

 

BABINEAUX

Mrs. Mary Magdeline Babineaux passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the age of 81. She is the mother of Retired Sergeant John Babineaux, who was last assigned to the Downtown Division, until his retirement on February 25, 2017. Services were held December 22 with burial in Paradise South Cemetery in Pearland.

 

BARAJAS

Mr. Manuel Barajas passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018. He is the grandfather of  Senior Police Officer Stephen Leija, assigned to the Eastside Division.

 

BERNER

Retired Sergeant Lila F. Berner passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the age of 80. She is survived by her husband Retired Sergeant Frederick E. Berner, who was last assigned to the Homicide Division until his retirement on March 29, 1991. Sergeant Lila F. Berner joined the Houston Police Department on December 28, 1959, Academy Class No. 23. During her career with the department, she was assigned to the Juvenile Division, Major Offenders Division, Office of Chief of Police, Homicide Division, and to the Burglary & Theft Division, until her retirement on May 30, 1989.

Services were held December 13 in Utopia, Texas.

 

BUITRON

Mr. Rosendon Buitron passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at the age of 53. He is the brother of Police Officer Richard Buitron, assigned to the Clear Lake Division. Services were held December 1 in Alvin.

 

CLARK

Mr. Floyd Clark Sr. passed away on Sunday, November 18 2018, at the age of 76. He is the father-in-law of Office Supervisor Patricia Clark, assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division and grandfather of Data Entry Operator Ashley Clark, assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division-North. Services were held November 24.

 

DAIGLE

Retired Deputy Chief Floyd W. Daigle, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the age of 83. He was a Veteran of the U.S. National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Daigle. He joined the Houston Police Department on October 1, 1956, Academy Class No. 15. During his career with the department he was assigned to the Central, Burglary and Theft, Major Offenders, and Records Divisions. On March 2, 1974, He was promoted to the rank of Captain. As a Captain he was in command of the Jail, Northwest, and Vice Divisions. On October 9, 1976, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief. As Deputy Chief Daigle, he was in command of the Criminal Investigation Command, until his retirement on February 2, 1990. Services were held November 27 in Pasadena with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

 

DANIEL

Mrs. Bettie Lois Farmer Daniel passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018, at the age of 95. She is the mother of Senior Community Liaison Stephen T. Daniel, assigned to the Office of Public Affairs; and grandmother of Police Officer Abigail Y. Daniel, assigned to the Southeast Division. Services were held December 21 with burial in Fort Worth.

 

DAVIS

Mrs. Lula Mae Berry Davis passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the age of 77. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Georganna “George” L. Davis, assigned to the South Central Division. Services were held December 8.

 

DOUGLAS

Retired Sergeant James Wiley Douglass, Jr. passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018, at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife, Clara Jean Douglass. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on May 1, 1967, Academy Class No. 35. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Traffic and Accident, Training, Southwest, and Community Services Divisions; to Facility Operations/Maintenance; and to the Crime Analysis Division. Sergeant Douglass retired on September 16, 1988. Services were held December 31.

 

GONZALES

Mr. Tony B. Gonzales passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the age of 80. He is the father of Sergeant Ray A. Gonzales, assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division. Services were held December 6 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.

 

GREEN

Retired Radio Operator Jerry W. Green passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Kuplent Green. He is also the brother-in-law of Retired Police Communications Specialist James B. Davis, who retired on December 20, 2004. Radio Operator Green joined the Houston Police Department on July 15, 1966. During his career with the Houston Police Department he was assigned to the Communications Management Division, retiring on July 21, 1989. Services were held December 1 in Tomball.

 

HALL

Retired Senior Police Officer Chris L. Hall passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at age of 59. He is survived by his wife, Annie Marie Hall. He joined the Houston Police Department on March 4, 1985, Academy Class No. 127. Senior Police Officer Hall was assigned to the Southwest Division throughout his whole career, until his retirement on January 24, 2009.  Services were held December 31.

 

HARRIS

Mr. Ivory Harris passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. He is the son-in-law of Senior Customer Service Clerk Muriel Hughes-Castle, assigned to the Records Division. Services were held November 24.

 

HENNING

Retired Police Officer Thomas H. Henning passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Marlyn Henning. He is also the grandfather of Cadet David J. A. Henning, assigned to the Training Division. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 8, 1958, Academy Class No. 19. During his career with the department, Police Officer Henning was assigned to the Central, Emergency Communications, Training, Property, and South Central Divisions, retiring on May 20, 1995.  Services were held November 24 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 

JONES

Retired Senior Police Officer Aranthan Jones passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the age of 63. Officer Jones joined the Houston Police Department on August 9, 1982, Academy Class No. 107 and was also a Veteran of the United States Army. During his career, he was assigned to the Southwest Division, North Division, Central Division and Gang Division until his retirement on February 28, 2015. Services were held November 30.

 

LERO

Mrs. Dorothy Joann Lero passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the age of 82. She is the wife of retired Police Officer Tommy J. Lero who was last assigned to the Property Division until his retirement on April 30, 1987.

Services were held November 17 with burial in Forest Park Westheimer.

 

LEWIS

Mr. Phillip L. Lewis passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at the age of 75. He is the father of Senior Police Officer William A. Lewis, assigned to the Clear Lake Division. Services were held December 28.

 

MOSELEY

Mr. Horace Moseley passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018, at the age of 98. He is the father of Senior Data Entry Operator Marilyn L. Mokuolu, assigned to the Records Division. Services were held December 1 with burial in Tyler.

 

NIX

Mr. DeShawn Nix passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the age of 35. He is the step-son of Senior Police Officer Anthony W. Waddy, assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held December 15 with burial in Lubbock.

 

SCOTT

Mr. Clyde Scott passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018. He is the brother of Senior Customer Service Clerk Muriel Hughes-Castle, assigned to the Records Division. Services were held December 1.

 

SHELTON

Mr. Willie Louis Shelton passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at the age of 85. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Gregory L. Shelton, assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held December 19 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

 

STOWE

Mrs. Geraldine H. Stowe passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2018, at the age of 83. She is the mother of  Police Officer Jerry K. Stowe, who was killed in the Line of Duty on September 20, 2000. She is also the mother of Sergeant Jimmy D. Stowe, who entered “ Phase Down A” on  October 8, 2016, out of the Narcotics Division. Services were held December 10 with burial in Forest Park East Cemetery.

 

TODD

Retired Lieutenant Billy J. Todd passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018, at the age of 83. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife Helen A. Todd. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 12, 1963, Academy Class No. 29. During his career with the department, Lieutenant Todd was assigned to the Southeast, Juvenile, Homicide, Burglary and Theft, Central, Air Support, and Southwest Divisions, until his retirement on December 31, 1984. Services were held December 28 with burial in South Park Cemetery in Pearland.

 

TURNER

Mr. James L. Turner passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018, at the age of 84. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Anthony M. Turner, assigned to the Hobby Airport Division. Services were held December 1 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

 

VASQUEZ

Mr. Matias Vasquez Jr. passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018, at the age of 83. He is the father of retired Senior Police Officer Natividad Vasquez, who was last assigned to the Eastside Division until his retirement on January 31, 2015 and grandfather-in-law of Police Officer Nathan L. Broome, assigned to the South Central Division. Services were held December 17 with burial in Laredo.

 

VILLEGAS

Mr. Ciro Villegas, II passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the age of 50. He is the brother of Administrative Aide Dorothy A. Villegas, assigned to the Office of Public Affairs. Services were held December 15 in Dallas.

 

WALLACE-WEBER

Mrs. Maureen Wallace-Weber passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at the age of 51. She is the sister of Senior Police Officer Medwin M. Wallace, assigned to the Major Assaults and Family Violence Division. Services were held December 14 with burial in Manassas, Virginia.

 

WASHINGTON

Mr. Lewis Samuel “L.S.” Washington Sr. passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018, at the age of 93. He is the grandfather of Police Officer Latreece C. Singleton, assigned to the Northeast Division and grandfather-in-law of Senior Police Officer Paul L. Singleton, assigned to the Training Division. Services were held November 30 with burial in Killeen.

 

WEIDO

Sergeant Paul S. Weido passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the age of 51. He is survived by his wife, Laura R. Weido. He started his law enforcement career with the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office on September 3, 1987. He joined the Houston Police Department on October 5, 1989, Academy Class No. 136. During his career with the department, Sergeant Weido was assigned to the Narcotics, Southwest, Jail, Midwest, and Westside Divisions.

Services were held December 17 with burial in Columbus.

 

WILLIAMS, CARL

Retired Lieutenant Carl W. Williams passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Amy B. Williams. He joined the Houston Police Department on June 2, 1969, Academy Class No. 41. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Employment Services, Southeast, Special Operations, and Traffic and Accident Divisions, retiring on August 5, 1993.

 

WILLIAMS, HAZEL

Mrs. Hazel L. Williams passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the age of 71. She is the mother of Senior Police Telecommunicator Angela D. Williams, assigned to the Emergency Communications Division.  Services were held December 22 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardends in Pearland.

 

WOOTEN

Virginia Laverne Wooten passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the age of 94. She is the mother of Retired Police Officer Gerald “Jerry” Cormier, last assigned to the Vehicular Crimes Division, retiring on September 22, 2018. She is also the grandmother of Police Officer Chase Cormier, assigned to the Air & Marine Division. Services were held December 12 in Highlands.
