ATKINS

Retired Police Officer Charles H. Atkins passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019, at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Sonja G. Atkins. He joined the Houston Police Department on October 1, 1956, Academy Class No.15. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Traffic, Safety, Narcotics, Polygraph, and Community Services Divisions. Officer Atkins retired on August 24, 1978. Private graveside services were held.


BELL

Retired Police Officer Carl K. Bell passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the age of 87. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 16, 1957, Academy Class #17. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Patrol Bureau, Jail Division, Radio Patrol Division and the Southeast Patrol Division until his retirement on January 27, 1983.


COX

Mr. Robert C. Cox passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at the age of 75. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Jeffrey A. Cox, assigned to the Southeast Division. Services were held October 15 with burial in Brenham.


DISMUKE

Retired Sergeant Clifford Leroy Dismuke passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife, Gloria L. Dismuke. He is the uncle of Senior Police Officer Carl “Mike” Rodriguez and Senior Police Officer Roy “Brian” Rodriguez, both assigned to the North Division. He is also the uncle-in-law of  Police Officer Amanda Rodriguez, assigned to the Special Victims Division. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He joined the Houston Police Department on March 29, 1976, Academy Class No. 74. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the North, Jail, Special Operations and Narcotics Divisions. Sergeant Dismuke retired on June 1, 2004. Services were held October 3 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.


HONG

Senior Computer Operator Herman W. Hong, assigned to the Office of Technology Services passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019, at the age of 64. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 21, 2005. Private services were to be scheduled.


HOPKINS

Mrs. Elizabeth A. Hopkins passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at the age of 83. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Teri H. Turner, assigned to the Downtown Division. Services were held October 10 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.


KLEIN

Mr. Joel J. Klein passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at the age of 77. He is the grandfather of Police Officer Jake E. Klein, assigned to the Downtown Division. Services were held September 28.


LEE

Retired Sergeant Janet F. Lee passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at the age of 70. She joined the Houston Police Department on August 3, 1970, Academy Class No. 46. During her career with the department, she was assigned to the Juvenile Division, Jail Division, Training Division, Burglary and Theft Division, Internal Affairs Division, Major Offenders Division, Robbery Division and the Westside Division until her retirement on May 17, 1997. Services were held October 14 with burial in Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.


LEVI

Mr. Kenneth Bell Levi passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the age of 77. He is the father-in-law of Senior Police Officer Bruin E. Glover II, assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held October 7 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.


MUNOZ

Mr. Miguel A. Munoz passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the age of 63. He is the father of Police Officer Andrea Munoz, assigned to the North Belt Division and father-in-law of Sergeant Benjamin LeBlanc, assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held September 27 with burial in Hollywood Cemetery.


OLSON

Ms. Mildred Lois Olson passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at the age of 87. She is the mother of Senior Police Service Officer Lois Curley, assigned to the North Division and mother-in-law of Forensic Photographer Larry Curley, assigned to the Office of Public Affairs. She is also the grandmother of Police Service Officer Leah Curley, assigned to the North Belt Division. Services were held October 2.


PENDLETON

Retired Senior Police Officer Dale D. Pendleton passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at the age of 71. He is the brother of retired Police Officer Rady K. Pendleton who was last assigned to the Narcotics Division until his retirement on September 8, 1999. Senior Police Officer Pendleton joined the Houston Police Department on August 22, 1983, Academy Class No. 115. During his career, he was assigned to the Northwest Division, Jail Division and the Narcotics Division until his retirement on July 23, 2009. Private services were held October 5.


PHILLIPS

Senior Police Officer Tommy M. Phillips passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the age of 55. He joined the Houston Police Department on May 13, 1991, Academy Class No.144. Throughout his whole career with the department, Senior Police Officer Phillips was assigned to the North Division.


ROBLES

Mr. Paul David Robles passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the age of 59. He is the brother of Senior Police Officer Peter Robles, assigned to the Clear Lake Division. Private services were held.


STAFFORD

Mr. Harold R. Stafford, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at the age of 76. He is the father of Sergeant Rosalie C. Stafford, assigned to the Homicide Division. Graveside services were held September 26 in Houston National Cemetery.


STAVINOHA

Firefighter Kenneth D. Stavinoha, of the Houston Fire Department, passed away in the Line of Duty on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the age of 36.  He is the nephew of Sergeant Paul A. Stavinoha, assigned to the North Division. He is also the cousin of Sergeant Charles A. Stavinoha, assigned to the Special Victims Division and Police Officer Emily T. Stavinoha, assigned to the Southwest Division. Services were held September 26.


SUMMERS

Retired Sergeant James L. Summers, Jr. passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife, Tina E. Summers. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He joined the Houston Police Department on June 22, 1970, Academy Class No.45. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Emergency Communications, Northeast, and the Burglary and Theft Divisions. Sergeant Summers retired on February 2, 2002. Services were held September 21 in Kosse, Texas.


SUMNER

Retired Police Officer Richard Lee Sumner passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019, at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife, retired Senior Police Officer Sharlot Sumner, who retired on June 3, 2005. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, retired Sergeant Billy “Bill” Fain. He is also the father-in-law of Sergeant Daniel Salinas, assigned to the Downtown Division and the uncle of Police Officer Douglas Howton, Jr., assigned to Northeast Division and the uncle-in-law of Police Officer Katelyn Howton, assigned to the Eastside Division. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 4, 1963, Academy Class No. 26. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Central and Northwest Divisions until his retirement on January 29, 1993. Services were held October 5 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.


TAYLOR

Mr. Sydney Tyrone Taylor passed away on Monday, October 1, 2019, at the age of 58. He is the brother of Senior Police Officer Vincent Taylor, assigned to the Downtown Division. He is the cousin of Lieutenant Ronald P. Sweet, assigned to the Homicide Division; Sergeant Frederick Groves, assigned to the South Gessner Division; Sergeant Norris W. Groves, assigned to the Mental Health Division; Senior Police Officer Don E. Henry, assigned to the South Central Division and Senior Police Officer Gwendolyn Gilford, who is currently on Phase Down C. He is also the cousin of Retired Senior Police Officer Edith H. Renfro; Retired Senior Police Officer Clifford M. Jackson, Retired Senior Police Officer Reginald M. Harris and Retired Senior Police Officer Ronald F. Davis. Services were held October 7 in Houston National Cemetery.


TRIGG

Retired Police Officer Harvey L. Trigg passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at the age of 73. He joined the Houston Police Department on December 27, 1966, Academy Class No. 34. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Special Operations, Southwest, and Jail Divisions. Police Officer Trigg retired on March 14, 1989. Services were held October 4.


VELASQUEZ

Mrs. Natalia Velasquez passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the age of 89. She is the grandmother of Sergeant Eric V. Flores, assigned to the Internal Affairs Division and of Police Officer Matthew D. Slade, assigned to the Airport IAH Division; she is also the aunt of Retired Sergeant Larry R. Buzo, who retired on February 17, 2012. Services were held October 17 with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.


VILLERREAL

Mrs. Anita G. Villarreal passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the age of 79. She is the mother of Retired Sergeant Diana V. Barfield, who went on Phase Down A on February 5, 2011. She is also the grandmother of Police Officer Matthew D. Eller, assigned to the Northeast Division and of Police Officer Kimberly H. Villareal, assigned to the Southeast Division. Services were held September 28 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.


WILLIAMSON

Mr. Bill Williamson passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019. He is the father of Police Officer David A. Williamson, assigned to the Kingwood Division. Services were held October 22 in Rocklin, California.
