The special HPD “Pink Patch” caps “are selling fast” but will continue to be for sale at the Union as a special tribute to breast cancer victims who will be recognized during October, the designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“The Union is selling these to try to raise money for breast cancer patients,” HPOU’s Lisa Marino told the Badge & Gun. “We’re working on the second case of hats and will continue the sales until there are no more available.”

Price is $10 each. Marino explained that “with proceeds a donation will be designated for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a non-profit organization.” She said Police Chief Art Acevedo approved the pink patches as the Department’s way of participating in Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“Officers may wear the pink patch cap for the month of October,” Marino explained. “They will serve to honor and remember and support those affected by breast cancer, especially those victims in our Blue Family.

“The hats are selling fast. Come get one and support breast cancer awareness!”
