Still time to get tickets for ATO’s Feb. 3 Top Cop presentation

Tom Kennedy

Excellence in policing is the name of the game in the Houston Police Department – a prime reason why Assist the Officer Foundation (ATO) with the support of the Houston Police Officers Union and First Responders Benefit Trust will honor some of the most outstanding HPD officers at the very first ATO Top Cop Gala.

Join us on Saturday Feb. 3 at the Hyatt Regency, 1200 Louisiana, for this great event.

Tickets are available for purchase on the first floor of Union or on line at Assist the Officer.com and HPOU.org. Cost is $95 per ticket.

The ATO board has utilized the HPOU’s monthly awards to the Patrol Officer(s) of the Month and the Investigator(s) of the Month at the Union’s monthly general membership meetings.

The Top Cop Awards will go to the patrol and investigative officer or officers deemed to deserve the first-ever awards for excellence for work performed in the previous calendar year.

Honorees will receive plaques and cash awards at the high point of the gala, the first of its kind which promises to be another great tradition of the Department, ATO, the Union and First Responders Benefit Trust.

The online auction benefitting ATO is already underway. Please go to www.assisttheofficer.com to register to bid on many valuable items such as an autographed framed J. J. Watt jersey and an AR-style rifle manufactured by High Standard Firearms. There also will be many other sports memorabilia and fun-inspiring auction items available to bidders.

The Gala will be a night filled with great food and live local entertainment. This event will include dinner, drinks, live music and continuation of the online active auction.

Plan to attend to celebrate with your co-workers and cheer on the first ATO Top Cop.
