The Airport Division (IAH) would like to thank each and every person who helped with the AR-15 raffle benefiting Officer J. Gomez. The raffle exceeded all expectations raising $20,060.00 that the Gomez family desperately needed and truly appreciates. On February 16, 2017, a two year officer assigned to NE nights became the proud recipient of the AR.
Officer Gomez was kept abreast with the progress of the raffle and he was truly surprised and deeply touched by the love and support his brothers and sisters in blue expressed towards him and his family during their time of need. On February 17, 2017, our Lord determined it was time to call Officer Jorge Gomez home and he is now an angel in heaven who will undoubtedly be looking down on all of us, helping to protect us as we protect those who we serve each and every day. Jorge was a wonderful family man who deeply loved being a Houston Police Officer and he served with pride and distinction until his final days on this earth. Please say a prayer for Jorge and his family and lets keep him in our hearts as I’m sure we are all in his.

It is with great gratitude that I would like to acknowledge the Houston Badge Co, Gary and Susan Rowe, for their unfailing support of the Houston Police Department. Upon learning of the shooting where Officers Cortez and Munoz were injured they immediately embraced the opportunity to assist us in creating commemorative badges for the wives and children as they persist through this difficult journey of recovery.
Each badge will have a single word inscribed on the back; peace, love, faith or grace, chosen for each family member. The words are intended to comfort and remind each person that they do not travel this road alone.
Please support the Houston Badge Company with your jewelry and badge needs as they have proven to be a valuable partner to the Houston Police Department.
